Hi all,

Just wondering where those guys that dont service there own Rally cars get theirs done?
Have done a few events in my Enduro Rover 25 and after a bit of a hammering on the Bullnose I need to get it serviced. Sadly I haven't got the time to go over it myself so just wondering really......................

Chris

Hi Chris,

I got to know my local back street garage and now take my 205 with cage and buckets there - they know there stuff and are cheap and enjoy working on something less mundane than the usual focus and vectra out of warranty work they do.

My point being, don't go travelling huge distances, build up a relationship with the a garage that is round the corner from you.

Cheers, Jonathan

Fair one, but all the garages by me in Uxbridge are cowboys! Embarassed Wouldnt even trust taking me mondeo there! I know of a few garages in Swindon that me Dad has links with so will probably end up driving down there.

That seems a bit extreme Shocked are you talking oil and filter type service (could do it yourself in same time to drive from Uxbridge to Swindon LOL) or a much bigger job?

Chris Hambly might be the man to talk to.

Im sure something is going, not sure if its the CV joint. But its not leaking so dont know. Just down on power and still makes that droning noise from the Bullnose. confused
My local garage is such a cowboy that my old saxo vtr that had a blowing exhaust and broken suspension and a few other problems passed an Mot. Suspect Im not complaining as its good to have cowboys to pass a piece of pooh sometimes, but not good for servicing rally cars where i want a proper job done.
My Mondeo's suspension coil has just snapped and the damper has come loose so i need to take it to a proper garage, so will speak to them about getting my Rover serviced and see how good they are. Twisted Evil

Jonathan has already suggested talking to Chris Hambly (very knowledgeable and reliable) but there are two other rally mechanics in the club:

- Edwin Dunmore based in Didcot. He has a service van and can come to you.

- Elliot Dunmore (his younger brother) who has a spotless garage near Bicester. Elliot has advertised in teh magazine.

There may be others I don't know about.

Many thanks Neil. For some reason my dad gets my OMC magazine so will get him to pass me on the details.
